About The Foster Care Workers Union

The FCWU is dedicated to the representation and support of all Foster Care Works. we provide a professional, bespoke service to our members and report on issues affecting them in the workplace. We also strive for better recognition and terms& conditions for all foster carers. Our campaigns are designed to further our aim of beeper professionalisation of this critical care service. See below for more information on our current campains.

Fighting for Better Workers Rights For All Foster Carers

Our campaigns are

National Register of Foster Carers

Most other professionals have a governing body that regulates their standards and qualifications like Nurses, Accountants  or lawyers, the FCWU wants this recognition for all Foster Carers.

Recognition of Worker Status

Currently Foster Carers Have no rights of employment whatsoever. Being recognised as a worker would bring many benefits including national minimum wage and holiday entitlement

Representation for all Members

Recognition as a worker is only part of the story, the union must also have proper recognition with service providers so that Foster Carers can enjoy the same representation as other workers.
