It would be great if as many of you as possible could complete this important piece of academic research by IWGB member Pete Sims at Bangor University.
As foster care workers we suffer enormous amounts of stress and anxiety, not only from the work that we undertake with children and young people, but also from the abusive working conditions and lack of rights we endure.
The mental health of foster care workers goes undetected due to the fact that most would not mention it for fear of loosing their jobs and their children. They can show no signs of mental or physical weakness or it is used against them.
It is unthinkable that this goes on in a workforce in the 21st century, especially with the spot light on the importance of mental health in the workplace at present and given the work we undertake with the countries most vulnerable children and young people.
Therefore respected academic research and statistics such as this are extremely important for our campaigns and our work in parliament.
