September news roundup Well here we are in September and its the  IWGB Foster Care Workers branch first birthday on 19th, and it is hard to believe what has been achieved in that short space of time, soaring membership, our first employment tribunal win, mainstream press and media coverage, our chair was asked by the …

So Krish Kandiah of ‘Home for good’ is conducting his own ‘survey’. I know most of you don’t do Twitter, to be honest I hate it too, I find it very toxic and have been abused on there as most of you know, often by these people announcing from the rooftops how caring they are...abusive to me for trying to speak out for an exploited, disposable and silenced workforce with no rights.

As you can see this is aimed at Martin Barrow and Andy Elvin (TACT) so its all a bit of a fix really...plus only 109 responses...

Go over to Twitter if you have an account and have your say.

This just feeds into the brigade determined to deny the fostering workforce basic decent rights, protection, status and equality.

This refers to our working title and status, and not what we call ourselves at home in our family setting with our children.

These people running the industry and your lives are so manipulative..

I have written to Krish asking to meet up so we can chat about different views and those we represent in order that we can all come together...sadly he didn’t even acknowledge my email let alone reply. These people have their own agenda and will do anything to keep the carers exactly where they are.

IWGB England and Wales Foster Care Workers branch

So excited about this meeting, Hampshire and Surrey Regional Group have really become a force to be reckoned with, with the membership growing exponentially in both regions..the main body of Hampshire County Council is now made up of 30% IWGB members and rising by the day.

In Surrey myself and our Surrey RGO have a meeting booked with Dave Hill DCS in March, so what would you like us to take to Dave? Our members input is crucial, we serve you.

I can’t wait to share the new training with you, and we will do a short part of a module in the meeting to show you the power of this innovative new training, never has anyone delivered a training to Empower, protect and safeguard Foster Carers in their working lives.

We will be there from 11am so if you are interested in being a rep, or getting involved in anyway come along early.

CLINIC: If you have an issue and are a member, 10 minute clinic slots are available, to look initially at your issue, and get you started in support. Remember these are issues that pertain to you as workers, not issues directly relating to children. Email fostersupport@iwgb.co.uk if you would like a clinic slot.
